Smoke Screen is an art research project dedicated to raising public health literacy levels on smoking-cessation resources and tobacco harm-reduction alternatives in Kenya. We believe that information saves lives — and that art, amplified through social media, is one of the most powerful tools for changing deeply held beliefs.

Kenya currently has a 6.4% smoking prevalence among adults — the highest in East Africa. The World Health Organization reports that globally, over one million deaths are attributed to secondhand smoke exposure. Yet most public health information remains locked in academic papers and healthcare facilities, rarely reaching the people who need it most. We’re filling that gap — one animation, one view, one changed mind at a time
